As a specialist national meteorological library and archive, we were attracted to Soutron because of their accessibility, flexibility and on-going plans for future system developments. Integrating our library and the archives data into a single system without compromising the collection management functionality on either side was a priority.
With the development of Soutron’s Portal and the ability to display the hierarchical relationships of our archives, finally we are able to present our entire holdings to researchers in one go.
As existing customers it feels like we’ve had some rather bespoke attention for a very modest increase in our costs.

I’d like to take this opportunity to express what a joy it is to work with Fred Wiese as the primary contact for our organization. He frequently goes above and beyond what can be expected from the role that he is performing. He not only has a very thorough understanding [of] Soutron’s role in our organization, but he is willing to share what he knows in ways that make my job easier. When I reach out for support or with questions he is very easy to communicate with, quick to respond and thorough in his responses.
He is patient with my questions and - I can’t stress this enough - explains things when they need to be explained in ways that allow me and our organization as a whole to make decisions and act quickly when problems arise. I don’t know if we are just extraordinarily lucky to have our questions filtered through a single contact, or if this is the Soutron model, but knowing that when I log a ticket Fred will be responding removes some panic when issues with Soutron do crop up.
We’ve been having a summer of [newly outsourced] IT issues and interactions with Fred has been a bright spot.
The ability to import and export content en masse and flexibly for our workflows and reporting needs is also very important to us as we are a small team. As we already used EndNote® for collecting publication records, thanks to Soutron it now takes half the time it did previously to add them to the LMS. We can now bulk import various record types, article metadata, migrated ejournals and ebooks directly into the LMS.
As a modestly-resourced county historical society, we are very much looking forward to going live with SoutronSolo very soon. It promises to be a splendid vehicle and solution to help promote our library and growing collection of research materials to those with an interest in the architecture, archaeology and history of St. Albans and Hertfordshire.

We were looking for a smaller version of our existing Adlib software which we were stuck with on a local server. We wanted software that would provide us with a simplified straightforward archive and library solution. We selected Soutron as the whole product offered fits our needs, budget and we really liked your approach to things. Integration with our website was also important and as a cloud based software we are rest assured you will be maintaining this, so we don’t have to!
Our previous library software really never did what we wanted it to do for us, it wasn’t that easy to use and with support at the time moving to the USA we decided to move over to Soutron.
We did look at other software vendors in the marketplace, but we liked the extended functionality Soutron offered within the library management software and it really just ticked all the boxes for us.
We have maintained a Library database at Ricardo for many years, and in 2012 we decided to move to the Soutron Library Management System as we already knew and trusted Soutron, who were able to provide a clear roadmap and future development of their own software.
Today we are preparing for a re-launch using the new portal, and look forward to the benefits this will bring for both our internal users and external client subscribers.
Although we are an international organisation the needs of our library are relatively modest. The host of customisable features within the administration area, the improved functionality for end-users and the whole look and feel of the Soutron software gave us exactly what we required from a modern Library Management System.

Compared to other LMS suppliers Soutron provided the perfect solution for a corporate library.
Field Law wanted to move to a cloud-based, integrated library system to manage the workflow of a multi-office, multi-librarian, regional law firm library. We wanted a system that would be easy for lawyers to use. Lawyers and librarians can now do enhanced resource searches that help them quickly pinpoint the tools they need to begin client research projects. Our staff are constantly on the go delivering programmes in various Commonwealth countries, a web based system really supports accessibility from whichever country they find themselves in. The National Sporting Library & Museum selected Soutron for its database needs primarily because of the flexibility in its feature set. We fell out of love with our previous software supplier.
